Brazil is going to invest US$2 billion in new aircraft
2013-09-26 source ownA new military cargo plane will almost certainly help to make Brazil a contender on the world stage of military plane makers . Brazil’s Embraer S .A ., an aircraft manufacturing company, is promising to manufacture a jet that flies higher, fuller as well as faster, although at a reduced price when compared with the US manufacturer Lockheed Martin Corp’s renowned Hercules airlifter.
“I don’t believe the Hercules has ever confronted similar major competition before – not to mention it’s the oldest aircraft in production,” Richard Aboulafia, an aviation consultant with the Teal Group stated.
The Brazilian government is investing US$2 billion into the growth and development of the aircraft powerhouse’s KC-390, which will be used to carry troops, supplies as well as to be a tanker aircraft in flight. Brazil is going to purchase 28 aircrafts in an agreement that should be signed within the next 6 months.
